My dogs ';thumb nail'; bent in half near the top so I had to cut it off?

Was this the right thing to do? The nail was bent and broken anyway.I cleaned it in dettol and then put anteseptic power on it before wrapping it up but i took the bandage off about 20 mins ago and it seems to have bled alot. I think the bleeding had stopped but putting on another bandage may have caused it to start again. Is it bad to cut a nail like this?My dogs ';thumb nail'; bent in half near the top so I had to cut it off?
As long as the bleeding has stopped then it should be ok. If not then use baking powder, flour or even bread.





Once it does stop then you have to stop it infecting so clean as often as possible without starting up another bleed.





Salt water - one tablespoon to one pint of boiled cooled water is another good and safe way of stopping infection.





Also hibiscrub wash which you can buy at the vets.
