It would help to even go to a chemist so that they can pierce the finger under the nail to release the pressure which causes the swelling and the red in the finger

Do you remember hitting your finger or jamming it in some way? That could cause your nail to bruise, thus resulting in the blue-red color. Just to be safe, I'd check it out with the doctor to make sure it's not an infection.
