Will they file off the top layer of my nails for gel nails?

I've had porcelain nails before and they did that (and I hated it!)


I wondered if gel nails were a hardening agent or something?Will they file off the top layer of my nails for gel nails?
The top layer of your nail will be filed off for gel nails and acrylic nails. I'm not sure why they do it, maybe it works better if your nail surface is slightly rough. Gel nails work in same way as acrylics but they are meant to look more natural.Will they file off the top layer of my nails for gel nails?
i have gel nails now and the last time i took one off they were good as new
